Happy New Year!

 Happy New Year!

Time and tide wait for no man.
- Chaucer

My 2015 wish is that we may have eyes to see opportunity when it appears,
and  wisdom to know when to seize it.

Here is my gift to you. A Sweet little Happy New Year ornament to make.  I used an empty ribbon spool as the base, with some garland wrapped around the middle. Cut and paste the images as in photo, add a little glitter.

Tea in the Library #44

The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found? - J. B. Priestley

Did you pray for a snow day as a child?

Do you love the hush of an early morning snow and stand quietly by a window cradling that first cup of coffee

Or are you up, sliding into clothes and out the door to shovel, head down and all business?

Today I am taking  coffee from my Spode Christmas Tree
set and enjoying a tiramisu cookie from my daughter's annual cookie exchange party.

I liked this cookie because of it's subtle not overly sweet flavor.

Christmas Wish

My secret wish for us, Friend, is that in the midst of the decorating, and table setting,
the sales and the DIY, the planning and the parties, in the midst of all we have to say, and to show, and to tell...
In the midst of all that clamour in our mind and the magic we want to conjure ...
My wish for you is that moment when we are timeless, wise and innocent as a child and there,
right there,  as if by accident,it is Christmas in our hearts.

My wish is for that moment of stillness when Christmas finds us and takes us unaware.
Merry Christmas,

Tea in the Library #45

Love came down at Christmas love all lovely and divine; love was born at Christmas stars and angels gave the sign.

Christmas in the Kitchen Exchange

It's time to share my Christmas in the Kitchen Exchange
swap goodies!  I was partnered with Viv from Viv's Whimsy.

I love everything she sent!  Do you see the paper straws? Wait till you see how I used them!
We both used gingerbread men and a red check in our projects.
 'Great minds think alike' right?

Viv made me the most charming faux cupcakes! I have been wishing for some since seeing Irene's faux treats which you can see here.
The darling ME pen makes list writing more fun. I added the ingredients for Viv's fudge to my shopping list.

Thank you Viv. I'll soon be posting more pictures showing how I'm using these lovely items.

Now here is what I sent Viv.

Rag Wreath made from homespun check and gingerbread man fabric.

 Blackboard art eggnog recipe
Matching tag
A small rustic rag banner. I added small gold jingle bells.
I also made an ornament from a baking themed vintage card image and trimmed it with some vintage plastic holly..

V is for Viv... may her dreams be visions of sugar plums and may all her Christmas dreams come true.
And if any creatures be stirring may they be grands who just need an extra kiss goodnight!

Some extra goodies to fill up the box...
Including some vintage Christmas cards, stickers and mini clothes pins, and a tea towel.

Thank you Viv for being a great swap partner and to
Erica for hosting. Stop by and visit Erica  at

Vintage Christmas Retreat

In honor of  The Creating Christmas Link Party
 - A Vintage Christmas -
at  Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson
and for general Christmas Link Party purposes
I want to share my  cozy little retreat.
It is a small space, just a nook carved out of my office and everything in it is hand-me-down or thrifted.
But it is all mine!

This Christmas I wanted to create a soft romantic spot full of small treasures.

A little romantic...

 A little brocante,

A little Vintage Christmas.

Vintage pink glass Shiny Brite, tarnished silver garland,
bleached bottle brush Christmas trees...

An ATC memorializes a  beloved garden cat
The finish on the vintage frame matches the 1960's towel basket.

The top of a mid-century glass front book case is piled
high with favorite projects and vintage goodness...

An ATC by artist Christina Paul .
Star burst broaches ...
 Vintage tea cups ...

A favorite poet, a pot of tea...

 McCoy vases...

Vintage watering can serves as tree holder. The cabinet it sits on was a curbside find

Can  you see the iridescent beads trickling from the spout?
The angel flying nearby is made from a vintage ballerina image found at
Join me and some of the Nicest People Ever at these  great parties
Thank you for visiting.
 Have a blessed week!
